FEATURE WINE - France

Domaine Lafage Miraflors Rose Cotes Du Roussillon

Named after an old estate in the heart of Domaine Lafage. The combination of mourvedre and old vine grenache gris is aged in tank before bottling. The result is a pale salmon color with an elegant bouquet of roses, strawberry and white peach, leading to a clean and pure palate that ends with crisp, refreshing flavors.  Either it is as a summer aperitif, or a dish, or tapas, the Miraflors Rosé goes perfectly with your happiest moments. Shrimps, sushis, grilled food, vegetables…Everything can be a pretext to open a bottle of this delicious rosé.

Pale rose, iodine, spicy, mineral nose. Ample minerality as well as a medium-bodied, racy profile on the palate.

Apellation: IGP Côtes Catalanes.
Varieties: 50% Grenache Gris, 30% Grenache Noir, 20% Mourvèdre.
Yield: 50 hl / ha.
Average age of the vines: 25 years old.

Harvest at the beginning of September. Juices are gently pressed. All processing is done in a very protected or “reductive” way to enhance the fruit flavor. The wine is matured on its own lees.

FEATURE BEER

Faculty Brewing - 165 Shower Beer

Faculty Brewing Co. was created to be an inclusive and open environment for beer drinkers of any level to enjoy and learn more about craft beer.

Faculty Brewing is the brainchild of Mauricio, the original head brewer, and Alicia, the architect behind the brewery's design. Seeing a need to make craft beer more accessible to the masses, they found their perfect location in the former space of the bicycle shop Pedal Bike Depot.

The Faculty name was born out of Mauricio's experience as a professor, the wish to educate and empower people with craft beer knowledge, and the idea that the brewery would share all the information behind the brewing process, including the recipes. We aim to work with other breweries and local home brewers to test new recipes and experiment with innovative ideas. Like a university or college, Faculty Brewing Co. is meant to be a place of idea-sharing and collaboration.

SHOWER BEER

Inspired by one of our employee’s desire to create a perfect “shower beer.” Defined by its light and easy-drinking qualities while also offering a fruit basket of aromas from the heavy dry hop of Callista, Cashmere, and Vic Secret. This beer is extremely crushable.

Alcohol Content: 5.0 ABV

Bitterness: 21 IBU

FEATURED SPIRIT

SAIGON BAIGUR GIN

Saigon Baigur will take you on a journey through Vietnam. With botanicals from every corner of the country, this is a gin, like Vietnam, bold & adventurous.

Saigon Baigur is the first premium dry gin to be distilled in Ho Chi Minh City. This gin is a celebration of some of the best botanicals Vietnam has to offer, black cardamom from the dense jungles in the most Northern part of Vietnam, the rare Buddha’s Hand citrus fruit grown in the capital of Hanoi, Saigon Cinnamon from the Annamite mountain ranges in the central Highlands and Lotus flower from the Mekong Delta. Together with Macedonian Juniper and 9 other local botanicals this makes a remarkable gin.

The gin is distilled in Saigon, Vietnam’s most cosmopolitan city. The name Baigur was derived from the first known settlement in this area, a small fish and spice trading outpost. Combined with Saigon, the name Saigon Baigur pays homage to the more than 1000-year-old tradition of spice & botanical trading in the area.

Saigon Baigur takes its symbol from the dragon. Not only does this local mythological creature represent power and prosperity, it also brings rain and therefore the dragon is essential to agriculture and the botanicals used in our gin.

The bottle has been inspired by the scales of the legendary creature. It took over a year to eventually find a glass producer willing to take on this daring project. After several attempts we finally achieved the result we were aiming for: a bottle like no other, for a gin like no other.

The View Winery is situated on a parcel of land that has been in the Turton/Ward family for 5 generations. Historically, fresh market apples were grown on the property. In the mid 1990’s a transition began and vineyards and cider apples were planted. Spartans and McIntosh gave way to Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Ehrenfelser and Pinotage vines as well as cider apple varieties such as Belle de Boskoop, Chisel Jersey and Bulmers Norman.

In 2006, the family’s beloved old packinghouse built by Great Granddad Ward in 1922 was transformed into a winery and cidery under the direction of his grandson Chris Turton and great-granddaughter Jennifer Turton-Molgat.

The View now produces over ten thousand cases each year. Our diverse portfolio of award winning wines includes Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Ehrenfelser, and our signature reds: Pinotage and Pinot Noir. Our rosé has emerged as a favourite as have our Silver Lining Estate blends.

Iron Road Brewing is what happens when two geologists (Richard Phillips & Jared Tarswell) with a passion for great beer get together and start a craft brewery. We've teamed up with award-winning brewer Aaron MacInnis to craft delicious, balanced beer that you're going to love.  A local Kamloops brewery located just a stones throw from Thompson Rivers University.  Support local and drink the fine suds from Iron Road Brewery.
